LightBurn settings for laser maps

A clean, layered SVG makes LightBurn setup fast. Here is how to assign operations for a map so streets cut, parks engrave and thin roads score.
1. Import the layered SVG
Open the file exported from Maperivo. Because layers are named CUT / ENGRAVE / WATER, they arrive on separate LightBurn layers instead of one tangled group.
2. Assign operations
Set the street and frame layer to Line (cut), parks and labels to Fill (engrave), and the thin-road layer to a light Line (score) at low power.
3. Order the operations
Engrave first, score second, cut last, with the outer frame or boundary cut at the very end so the sheet stays fixed. Read cut vs engrave explained.
4. Dial in power and speed
Run a material test: confirm the cut passes through and the engrave depth is even before the full sheet. Every machine and material differs, so test on scrap.
5. Save your material presets
Once dialled in, save the settings as a material preset so every future map is one click.
